Enterprise LowCode Application Platforms

LowCode Application Platforms are those that help enterprises create technology products and bring it faster to market than regular code based IT Development teams. Gartner ever year releases their Magic Quadrant in the summer for LowCode Application Platforms, and we at NoCode Journal would like to discuss some of the niche players who are shaping to get a leadership role within this space.

According to Gartner, by 2024, three-quarters of large enterprises will be using at least four LowCode development tools for both IT application development and citizen development initiatives. Also, by 2024, LowCode application development will be responsible for more than 65% of application development activity. You can find the Gartner report here.

From the niche players in Gartner’s Quadrant, here are the few which we will focus on in this article, and they are in no specific order or ranking and only alphabetically sorted for brevity.

AgilePoint

AgilePoint helps enterprises turn any business idea into a working application. It has an aptly named platform, AgilePoint NX, which is a Low-to-No-code platform. This platform empowers both technical and less technical users to quickly build responsive business applications and process automation across enterprise organizations faster than ever before.

AgilePoint has a background in Business Process Modelling and has automated that workflow builds into building extensible process-centric or data-centric applications, aimed at nontechnical developers. More complex extensions created in C# or Visual Basic using AgilePoint’s software development kit.

BPMOnline Creatio

BPMOnline, which recently renamed as Creatio, is a LowCode platform for automation of the Business process of any complexity. Creatio provides a versatile process designer with BPM support that allows for building processes of any complexity. Case management tools help manage and automate unstructured processes. A powerful BPM engine enables performing multiple operations simultaneously. Visual analytics tools help detect bottlenecks and optimize processes.

In combination with its CRM and Sales and Marketing products, Creatio provides a well-rounded process automation toolset that enables the orchestration of processes across teams and applications, especially in customer-oriented domains.

Kintone

Kintone is a teamwork platform with a visual application builder that enables organizations to manage their data and workflow for better collaboration effectively. The solutions which Kintone provides can be generic enough like Database Management, Workflow Management, Project and Task Management along with industry-specific solutions like Claims Management.

Kintone is rapidly growing as part of Cybozu, a Japanese IT business that provides SaaS applications, and Citizen development is the cornerstone of the LowCode Application Platform.

ProntoForms

ProntoForms offers a leading LowCode solution for mobile forms. The  solution allows you to create customizable forms for businesses. The ProntoForms mobile solution makes it easy for remote workers to collect data for business apps and access company data in the field. It populates offline and online mobile forms and automatically shares the results with back-office systems, cloud services, and people.

ProntoForms provides an intuitive NoCode, web-based tool using a drag-and-drop, visual app-building approach ideally suited to citizen developers. Its platform is most suitable for replacing paper forms, prototyping new apps, and modernizing or mobilizing existing desktop-bound applications.

TrackVia 

TrackVia helps businesses digitize and streamline their critical operational workflows and field processes with LowCode web and mobile applications. TrackVia fills this gap with a real LowCode solution that combines the speed, ease, and agility of a spreadsheet with the power, sophistication, and automation of an enterprise-grade system. The user can configure their web and mobile applications precisely the way they want and make changes quickly with no complex coding or IT help needed.

Applications developed with TrackVia’s LCAP can include some sophisticated features, such as Gantt charts. Its LCAP also provides extensibility using the Apache Groovy language. The platform offers some of the ease of use of a citizen development platform but can also tackle complex process applications.

K2

K2 is a niche player within the LowCode space. It is better known as a long-term BPM provider for process-centric automation projects of moderate complexity and scale. It provides full application life cycle support for process-driven applications involving multiple developer personas and draws on an integration framework.

K2 is a well-recognized, model-driven business process automation vendor with a background in BPM. Its product supports process orchestration, business rules, and integration, and has a test automation framework

Quickbase 

Quickbase is a LowCode platform which helps you to safely and securely develop business applications in days – and extend and tailor your existing applications to do more.

Quickbase focuses on ease of use for Citizen Developers and has developed a large customer base. This base extends across industries and includes professional developers aiming for the rapid delivery of data-oriented applications.
